Quick Facts About Kruger National Park

Kruger National Park is the largest game reserve in South Africa, and the world's  second-largest, with an incredible 148 mammalian species

( more than any other in the world), over 500 birds and 114 reptile species.

This home of the big 5 is larger than The country of Israel and the state of New Jersey. The park boasts an almost endless sea of open bushveld which stretches over 2 million hectares, leading Kruger to be considered one of the largest parks in the whole of Africa.

Vegetation

With the Kruger National Park being so vast it naturally has a tremendous botanic diversity. Simplistically the Kruger National Park can be divided into 16 macro ecozones. The northern half of the park, north of the Olifants River is predominantly mopane veld, while south of the Olifants the ecozones are thornveld. There are 336 tree species in the park.
